1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
When we follow the Lord Jesus Christ every day is a day of thanksgiving. Through prayer we are in contact with the Creator of the universe. He controls every breath we take and ever beat our hearts make. Clearly, giving thanks and rejoicing in the Lord is the will of God for our lives. If it is the will of God then we should be obedient and give thanks.
Application: It is easy to go about our lives without being thankful. Thanksgiving Day is one day a year set aside to remind believers and unbelievers we have many blessings that we should be thankful for. Unfortunately for many of us the more we have the more we want. This is the nature of fallen man. Stop for a while and pray and ask God to remind you of all the things that you should be thankful for each day. Remind yourself of someone who you should personally thank for the blessings that they bring to your life. Too often we simply ignore what others do for us and believe that we deserve their attention.
