2 Corinthians 4:5-7 "For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."
Paul explained to the believers at Corinth the incredible message they had been given. The whole purpose for any Christian who lived in the past or who lives today is centered around the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christians have the light of God in them. This light should shine into the darkness and make a difference. Christians are called to be the “salt” of the earth. Although Christians are only clay vessels, the Creator of the universe has placed His Spirit in them in order to be His arms extended, serving others and always exposing darkness with the light of God’s Word.
Application: Where do you stand? Are you an earthen vessel that contains the Spirit of God? What are you doing about it? Are you letting others around you know what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ? Sometimes Christians find it easier to fit in with the of the world so that they do not suffer persecution. A servant of God stands up for the truth whatever the cost.
