God's Word For Today

Psalm 14:2-5

"The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, No, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on the LORD? There they are in great fear, for God is with the generation of the righteous."

Comment:

The Psalmist lays out the desperate reality of the nature of mankind in words that can easily be understood. There is not one who does good and this is why Jesus the Savior came to this planet earth to die on the cross and shed His blood as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind.

Application:

The only way to be righteous in the eyes of a mighty God is to accept the sacrifice He made and repent. There is no way to attain righteousness based on good works because all have fallen short of the glory of God.
