What About You And Me?

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him for He cares for you."

1 Peter 5:6-7

When trials come be humble and submissive - not prideful and angry… God resists the proud… He gives Grace to the humble.

Years ago, in my place of employment, an individual in a supervisory position caused much grief and dismay in the hearts of those of us working there.   A couple of my fellow employees literally had nervous breakdowns as a result of the prevailing tone of darkness.  The situation was so devastating, I spent a good deal of time pondering over the negative aspects of the predicament and wondering what could be done.

One day while I was praying, I said, "Lord… what are You going to do about that person?  How can this keep going on?  What can I do about this person?"  Suddenly, the Lord spoke to my heart.  "What about you and Me?"  I said, "No, I am talking about that person and myself, not about You and me, Lord."  Again I heard the same message, as clearly as if audible, and tears began to flow.  "What about you and Me?"  In that moment I realized that my walk with the Lord was being jeopardized… not by someone else… but by myself.  I was spending more time thinking about and stressing over what was going on in the workplace situation, and less time in prayer and in the Word.

When we complain about our lot in life we are complaining about God.  We need to seek God's will and ask Him to help us focus so that we are accepting in the midst of what He is doing. God is working His eternal purpose in each of our lives.  We are not to try to get God to bless our agenda.  How does God accomplish His will in our lives when people and circumstances oppose us?  He doesn't cause people to do evil things but He can cause some of the things they do to work for our good.  God has a master plan.  He can out play any man or the devil.   God is in control… superior to all.

Be confident in the Lord, then even during difficult times… you will be mindful that… He cares for you!
