Dear Roger and Understand The Times supporters,
Grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
My name is Pastor Richard of Saving Grace Baptist Church of Malanday. I am
entrusted by Understand the Times to oversee the Feeding Ministry and Bryce
Homes here in the Philippines. The ministry of Understand The Times Philippines
started on year 2006 and currently there are 10 Bryce Homes (catering 10
children and their families) here in Manila and several others in the provinces.
Bryce Homes provide things needed for the schooling of the children such as
uniforms, shoes, bags, school supplies, etc. and their daily meal and financial
allowance.
Understand the Times also do feeding ministry twice a week under the supervision
of our church every Friday and Sunday. Every Sunday we do feeding right after
the Sunday school class and this is regularly attended by an average of 80
children. On Friday the feeding is done after the Bible study not only for
children but for adults as well. For 12 years of the ministry of Understand the
Times here in the Philippines I have seen how the children have grown. Some of
them are now members of the church. Once they were the one listening but now
they are the one teaching. Truly, our labor in Christ is not in vain
(1Corinthians 15:58).
Our vision for next year and for the years to come God willing and God enabling
is to continue to expand the program. Currently those who benefitted from the
program of Understand The Times both in feeding and Bryce Homes are the
community near our church in Malanday, Marikina. We are planning to bring the
program to nearby town and barangay if the Lord will provide so that many more
children and people will some how relieve from the burden of poverty and feel
the caring and benevolence love of God by using Understand The Times ministry.
From time to time I get strengthened by the words of Apostle Paul in Galatians
6:9-10, that says,
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we
do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and
especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
On behalf of all the children being fed by your feeding ministry here in our
country and on behalf of Bryce Homes scholars whom you are supporting in their
studies through financial assistance, prayers and moral support I would like to
express our heartfelt gratitude to the ministry of Understand the Times and all
its sponsors. Truly, the Lord is using this ministry to be a channel of His
mercy and grace to reach the less fortunate and the unloved level in society.
