Dear Roger and Understand The Times supporters,
I am Pastor Leonel. I’m from Cap-Haitian in the North of Haiti. I’m the director
of the Bryce Homes for Haiti since 2016. We have 4 Bryce homes and one feeding
program in a different Location in the country under my leadership. The 4 Bryce
Homes are pastoral families who are living in difficult financial situations and
the feeding program is made of the starving kids who are mostly orphans of
single mom or dad or no parents. We have so far 70 children in the program but
there is a constant request from families to add their kids too. Each month
either for the feeding program or for the Bryce homes we use all the funds that
we receive to buy uncooked foods, ingredients, sometimes supplies needed in the
Bryce Homes and to feed these starving children that come every single day at
the feeding program. For most of them that’s their only meal for the day.
For the feeding program, every day from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm all the kids gather.
We have 2 volunteer monitors who pray with them and teach them a Bible study.
After that we feed them rice and beans with vegetables sometimes cornmeal with
sauce beans and sometimes we give them some juice too. And after eating some of
them go to school. There are lots of them who don’t go to school because their
family cannot afford to send them to school. But for those who go to school the
monitors work with them on their home work and school materials. The others stay
to learn bible verse and songs. And at 5:00 pm we pray and send them where they
stay at.
We are confronting some serious needs either with the Bryce Homes or with the
feeding program.
The feeding program: the kids are naked, don’t have shoes but the biggest need
that break my heart is they need to be educated and we are praying steadfast
over the possibility either starting a Christian school for them or pay for them
to go to a school.
For the Bryce Homes: I have pastors calling me almost every day asking me when
they will be added to the program. We don’t have enough words to express our
gratefulness, love, appreciation and thanks to our faithful and generous
supporters for their blessings in our daily life But we never cease to pray and
intercede for you, for The Lord in His amazing grace love and kindness to bless
you to Keep you and to cause His face to shine upon you every single day of your
