Being a Christian Can Be Frustrating

It is hard for me to believe how frustrating life can be. I am a Christian but being a Christian is not easy either. There are many people who profess to be believers. However, the problem is they believe many things that have nothing to do with the Bible.

Often they believe many unbiblical things and choose to hurt others who are brothers and sisters. Sometimes they write or say things they found out online from gossip or someone’s blog. They use these lies and rumors to elevate themselves. In short, they want to be known as the greatest. Sometimes they elevate themselves to a position they know nothing about. One person I know seems to take the position of a psychiatrist to put others down; but he has no medical degree. He uses big words he found in a medical dictionary to make his point.

So, the question I have is simple. If people like this are actually believers, why would they stoop to this level? Can this be understood by reading the Bible? Are Christians born to be mean and ugly? Why do they choose the weak and the wounded to take out their vengeance?

Perhaps you understand what I am saying but maybe you do not. Sometimes Christians never get into a position where they are on the front lines. Life goes on and they attend church on a regular basis. They never get involved in controversy because they never want to rock the boat.

It is also true that not everyone is given discernment. In the church today, discernment has become a dirty word. When someone points out that churches are going south, the pastor of that church and his loyal board of elders will often get very upset. Board meetings will be held discussing those who once attended the church who no longer attend. They see themselves as "spirit filled" believers who are in the know. Now that they are purpose driven and "led by the Spirit", they are headed towards the "Second Pentecost."

If you are having difficulty in following what I am saying and you are a person of discernment, just wait awhile. Fewer and fewer see and understand the apostasy that is happening. While there are those who do, Satan has a plan to wipe out the remnant of believers as well. It should be easy if they spend their time beating each other up, dividing over non issues and calling themselves the true remnant. How sad!

Now let me draw this together with some sobering thoughts. According to the words of Jesus, you can believe that you believe and still be deceived and go to hell. He stated:

Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.[1]

Could it be that some are so sure they are right that they are actually wrong? Perhaps it would be good to check our own hearts and find out. What if people who professed to be leaders in the church were misled and deceived? What would that mean? Is this why the Scriptures say to examine ourselves?

Here is what Paul wrote to the Corinthians:

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? [2]

Do you agree with Paul? It is in the word of God!
