IS THE THREE LEGGED STOOL CHRISTIAN?

The purpose driven three-legged stool plan has three legs – the public sector, the private sector and the church. This church includes priests, pastors, rabbis and Muslim clerics. Jesus said, He would build His church. Is the purpose driven church the church Jesus was talking about?

 …………………………………………………………………………………..

It is not my desire to attack or destroy other ministries. My desire is to contend for the faith, tell the truth and point people to Jesus Christ.

I believe Christians must tell the truth. Christians should see things in black and white, not grey. If a Christian leader is confused and leading sheep astray, then that person should be corrected in love.

It is because I am concerned that purpose driven Christianity is driving Bible-believing Christianity to market that I feel called to warn the church – a church headed towards apostasy that doesn’t even know it. It was for this reason I wrote Faith Undone as a wake up call to the church to get back to the Word of God and the gospel according to the Scriptures.

While I was speaking at a conference in the Philippines, Rick Warren was in Europe participating in a globalist discussion group called DAVOS. Someone sent me a link to a short interview Warren gave that aired on You-tube. When I watched Warren’s statement, I thought is would help the conference delegates in the Philippines to understand the seriousness of the three-legged stool plan.

On the last day of the conference, I made a copy of the You-tube interview with Warren at an Internet Café. When the conference delegates heard Rick Warren in his own words, a pin could have been heard drop in the lecture hall. The case against the three-legged stool plan was complete. I needed to make no further comments.

Now, listen as I read to you some of what Warren said:

Right now, I think, there are five what I call global giants—extreme poverty, pandemic diseases, illiteracy, corruption, and spiritual emptiness. These problems are so big nobody’s been able to solve them. The U.S. hasn’t solved them. The U.N. hasn’t solved them. Nobody’s solved them. And I think it is… going to take a three-pronged strategy to do this. There is a role for the public sector. There is a role for the private sector. And there is a role for the faith sector. Each of them can do something that none of the other three can do. [1]

In case you have not figured this out, the third leg of the three-legged stool is the faith sector. This is what troubles those who have not bought into the three-legged stool plan. Later in Warren’s interview he said the following:

And frankly, I don’t care why you do good, as long as you do good. Your motive may be politics. You know, I am a member of the Counsel of Foreign Relations, and I have learned that when you, for instance, help people get well, that they have been unhealthy, they like your nation. [2]

The time remaining in this program does not allow me to comment on how being a member of the Council of Foreign Relations could possibly help a pastor build the church Jesus Christ died for. Tune back in to Understand The Times, tomorrow for further commentary!

I am Roger Oakland. This has been a biblical perspective to help understand the times.
