THE FOSSILS SAY NO

According to evolution theory the layers of the Grand Canyon represent hundreds of millions of years. Found in these layers are many different kinds of fossils that evolutionists say show life evolved. Creationists point out the fossil record lacks the necessary intermediates required to show the evolution theory is true. So who is right – evolutionists or creationists?

The Grand Canyon provides an excellent opportunity when it comes to documenting the theory of evolution. In several places a fissure opens up in the surface of the earth that is over one mile deep. Thus the canyon provides a panoramic eyes-on view for us to be able to see the lineage of life proposed by Darwinism. But do the Grand Canyon layers provide all the intermediates necessary to support the Darwinian view that a single cell can become a man given millions of years.

The Grand Canyon has a multitude of fossils throughout the various layers. These fossils include trilobites, clams, worms, reptile tracks, and ferns to mention a few. While there are fossils of creatures that no longer live today (these creatures are extinct) other fossils look exactly like their counterparts that live today.

All of this causes one to think and ask questions: How many fossils have you ever seen that were formed during your life time? What happens today when plants and animals die? Or ponder for a moment and ask another question: What could have happened in earth’s history that brought about this vast burial ground at the Grand Canyon?

The fact that fossils were formed in the past and buried in extensive layers that were deposited by water should be our first clue. Further, the fact we do not find a sequence of fossils showing how one kind of life became another, should be our second.

Remember what Darwin predicted. If the evolutionary process has occurred, the fossils should reveal how this process occurred. While over a century and a half have passed since Darwin proposed his theory, the evidence still remains the same. Life has the potential of showing variation through time, but this variation remains bounded by genetic restraints and always occurs in a horizontal direction.

The layers of the Grand Canyon represent hundreds of millions of years providing a supposed window into our evolutionary past. We should find countless intermediates between the various kinds of life that are drawn on the Darwinian tree of life. The fact is that not one has been found.

What does this say? The evidence from the fossil record found at the Grand Canyon fails to substantiate what evolution claims should have happened. No wonder when the book “The Grand Canyon: Another Perspective” (a creationist perspective) was made available at Grand Canyon bookstores, showing the theory to be bankrupt, evolutionists were very upset and wanted it banned.
