GRAND CANYON CENSORED

Education requires that the human mind be imputed with information. When it comes to the topic of the origin of the Grand Canyon there are two perspectives – evolution and creation. When a book presenting the creationist view was made available for sale at Grand Canyon bookstores, evolutionists were enraged. They wanted these books removed and banned. Why would this be so?

……………………………………………………………………………….

The book is called “The Grand Canyon: A Different View.” It was written and compiled by Grand Canyon guide Tom Vail. There are numerous contributions from well known creationists like Dr. Gary Parker, Dr. Steve Austin, Dr. Kurt Wise and others. The book is full of magnificent photographs of the Grand Canyon along with explanations supporting the view that the Grand Canyon shows evidence a worldwide flood has occurred.

When the book appeared in Grand Canyon bookshops offering another perspective to the evolutionary view, a major controversy occurred that made the news. Several outspoken evolutionists wanted the book banned.

“The creation view of the origin and history of the Grand Canyon is nothing more than religious propaganda promoted by fundamentalist Bible believing Christians, the argument went. Such nonsense should not be permitted along side the “evolutionary” view that is based on the principles of modern geology established by “scientists” who are “scientific” and “honest” with the evidence.

I personally know some of the contributors to this book. I also know these men hold credentials awarded to them by secular universities. Like me, they were taught in the evolutionary framework of education, trained to perpetuate evolutionary propaganda. However, they came to the conclusion that the evolutionary view did not provide an accurate model for explaining the origin and history of life. Instead, they now proclaim the evidence suggests the Grand Canyon was formed catastrophically and not gradually.

So you see, there are two camps of scientists when it comes to interpreting the evidence for the origin of the Grand Canyon. Both evolutionists and creationists believe they are right. But there is one major difference. Evolutionists would like to see the creation view banned. However, creationists only want the facts they have uncovered that contradict the evolutionary assumptions considered.

There is another factor that fuels this debate. For years uniformitarian geology has been promoted at the Grand Canyon without challenge. Now that a book has been published that shows the evolutionary view may be wrong, a lot of pride is at stake. In the years I have spent traveling around the world as a creation speaker, there is one thing I have learned. When people discover they have been duped by evolution, it is not easy to say “I was wrong.”

Perhaps you have been to the Grand Canyon or seen pictures of it. I know you would find “The Grand Canyon: Another Perspective” very interesting. If the evolution view of the Grand Canyon is accurate, then so be it. But if there really are problems in the way it has been interpreted, we need to be honest with the evidence. If the facts show there has been a worldwide flood, then I think people should have the right to know it. If the time has come when evolutionists have to rely upon censoring information that contradicts their theory, education is no longer education – we are being indoctrinated.

I am Roger Oakland. This has been a biblical perspective to help understand the times.
