My life as a Christian has been a journey. God has led the ministry of Understand The Times from place to place around the world using people and circumstances. Today I will tell you about how God used a handicapped man by the name of Michael Miller to establish a ministry in the Philippines. I know you will be blessed.

Sometime soon, LORD willing, I am going to continue with my testimony book “Let There Be Light.” One of the chapters that I will add will be titled the “Michael Miller” story.

A few years ago when I returned from my first trip to Myanmar we aired a series of radio programs sharing about the people we had met and the projects God was speaking to us about implementing. One of the programs in that series was about Bryce Lodge, a home for underprivileged children that we were planning to establish for needy children in the city of Yangon.

A man by the name of Michael Miller was one of the first to respond. He said he was impacted by the program about Bryce Lodge and that he wanted to do what he could to help out. He sent funds for the project and then a few months later he contacted me again. This time he said that he wanted to sponsor a fund raising project to start another Bryce Lodge.

When I made further contact and inquired how he planned to raise the support, Michael sent me further information and an article that explained more about himself.

Michael’s testimony is amazing. His mother was killed in a car accident when she was 8 months pregnant. He was born with cerebral palsy. He lived a life on the streets as a young man and was consumed by drugs and alcohol. The LORD saved him. Later he met a Pilipino lady by the name of Becky. They married and now have a little girl by the name of Irene.

Michael, although handicapped, drives a shuttle up and down Tiger Mountain transporting hundreds of hang-gliding customers every season. Mike’s heart is consumed by missions and especially reaching Asia with the gospel. Not long after I got to know Mike, he asked me if I would consider doing a couple of Pastor’s conferences in the Philippines that he and his brother-in-law Reuben would organize.

It did not take me long to make the decision to go. The trip was made in the latter part of January 2008. Two conferences were held reaching about 150 pastors and church leaders. This was one of the most rewarding and fulfilling mission trips of my life.
