March 6 - Church unity is found in Christ, Eucharist, Pope Francis tells bishops
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days

Pope Francis on Wednesday reminded bishops to turn their sights to the Eucharist - rather than themselves - as the source of unity for the Church.

"The bishop does not gather people around himself, or his own ideas, but around Christ, present in his word and in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood," the Pope said Mar. 4 during an audience with bishops taking part this week in a gathering of the Focolare movement. "The Bishop is the principle of unity in the Church, but this does not take place without the Eucharist," he said; otherwise, "unity would lose its divine pole of attraction, and would be reduced a solely human, psychological, and sociological dynamic."

Some 60 prelates from around the world have been meeting in Castel Gandolfo Mar. 3-6 for the 38th Conference of Bishop Friends of the Focolare Movement, which is centered on the theme: "Eucharist, mystery of Communion." The Focolare Movement was founded in 1943 to promote the ideals of unity and universal fraternity.

February 4 - This Microchip Will Deliver Drugs in Your Body by Remote Control
 Article: Miscellaneous

Biomedical engineer Robert Langer has pioneered controlled release drug delivery methods and basically invented tissue engineering (making body parts in the lab). His next trick: an implantable microchip that can deliver drugs by wireless signal.

The chips Langer and his team are working on are around two centimetres squared and contain up to 1,000 tiny "wells" you can put different drugs in, each with a little cover. As the covers are removed, the drug is released. You could put 1,000 doses of the same drug in to be released over time, or different ones. "You can also literally have a pharmacy on a chip if the drugs are potent enough," he told me in a phone interview.

March 9 - Economist Tells Congress: U.S. May Be in 'Worse Fiscal Shape' Than Greece
 Article: One World Government

The U.S. has a $210 trillion "fiscal gap" and "may well be in worse fiscal shape than any developed country, including Greece," Boston University economist Laurence Kotlikoff told members of the Senate Budget Committee in written and oral testimony on Feb. 25.

"The first point I want to get across is that our nation is broke,"
Kotlikoff testified. "Our nation's broke, and it's not broke in 75 years or 50 years or 25 years or 10 years. It's broke today. "Indeed, it may well be in worse fiscal shape than any developed country, including Greece," he said. "After all, federal debt in the hands of the public is only 74 percent of GDP. Yes, this is double the debt-to-GDP ratio recorded a decade ago. But it's still a far cry from Italy's 135 debt-to-GDP ratio or Greece's 175 percent ratio."

March 9 - 'New Iranian missile could extend Iran's strike capability to Europe and beyond'
Article: Wars And Rumors Of Wars

A new Iranian long-range missile could extend Iran's strike capability to a wide swath of Europe and potentially far beyond, an Israeli analyst said this week.

Tal Inbar, the head of space research at the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies in Herzliya, said that with their 2,500 km. range, the Soumar missile
unveiled by the Islamic Republic on Sunday "entails a 25 percent increase in the range of Iran's missiles, and if we consider the future possibility that the missiles would be deployed on ships and submarines, we see the ability to project their power worldwide."

March 10 - No Opting Out of Vaccinations Under Proposed California Bill
 Article: One World Government

With the debate over vaccines reaching a fever pitch, it's only logical a bill on the subject would hit the legislature, and one has. SB 277, introduced in late February, would remove exemptions from existing law that allow parents to forego having their children immunized for personal beliefs. The bill would pertain to diseases like mumps, whooping cough and measles which, in part due to a recent Southern California outbreak, has been making a comeback.

Exemptions for medical reasons would still be available, but the bill would prevent anti-vaxxers from straying from a typical vaccination schedule or choosing not to vaccinate at all. The bill would prevent children from going to public or private schools, nurseries, day cares or development centers without vaccinations.
