February 4 - Earth Reeling from nine major earthquakes, striking in 5 days
Article: Signs Of The Last Times

An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 struck off the coast of the Solomon Islands (Santa Cruz) in the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Friday.

This is the ninth major earthquake to strike the planet in the last five days. The present cluster of earthquakes began with a 6.0 event in Eastern Kazakhstan on January 28th, following a full moon on January 27, 2013.

Perhaps, it may not be readily apparent to most that our planet appears to now be inching towards the spectrum of some major cataclysmic event. This approaching black swan occurrence is characterized by the gradual escalation of geological activity of a violent seismic and volcanic nature.

February 4 - EXCLUSIVE: Justice Department memo reveals legal case for drone strikes on Americans
 Article: One World Government

A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be "senior operational leaders" of al-Qaida or "an associated force" -- even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.

The 16-page memo, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration's most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects abroad, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes.

February 4 - World's largest Marian statue unveiled in Bolivia
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last days

The largest statue of the Virgin Mary in the world, dedicated to Our Lady of Socavon, was inaugurated at a Feb. 1 ceremony in the city of Oruro, Bolivia. Rolando Rocha, the lead sculptor for the project, told reporters that more than simply "a work of engineering and art," the monument "is an act of faith that strengthens our traditions."

Towering at 149 feet, the statue is located on a 12,000-foot mountain south of La Paz, the country's second largest city. It stands 22 feet taller than the Christ the Redeemer statue atop Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The statue's unveiling ceremony was attended by both Bolivian president Evo Morales and Oruro mayor Rossio Pimentel.

February 7 - George Weigel says New Evangelization is future of Catholicism
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last days

Comment from Understand The Times:
It is important that Bible believing Christians understand the true meaning of "Evangelical Catholicism", also known as the New Evangelization Program. The Roman Catholic agenda is to win the world to the Eucharistic Jesus in order to set up the "Kingdom of God" on earth. The Eucharistic Jesus requires a Roman Catholic priest and the process of transubstantiation. This "Jesus", which actually is nothing more than a wafer, is placed into a monstrance (container) and is worshipped and adored. This whole process will play a significant role in setting up a One World Religion in the name of Christ that prepares the way for the antichrist.

As the Catholic Church works to shape the culture in the 21st century, her members must embrace reality while fearlessly proclaiming the truth, said author George Weigel.

"It is the same Church, the same Faith and above all the same Lord," emphasized Weigel, a noted Catholic commentator and biographer of Pope John Paul II. However, he explained,
"the Evangelical Catholicism of the third millennium" will live out its fidelity "in a distinctive way."

He explained that the deeply cultural Catholicism that emerged during the Counter-Reformation supported the evangelization of the New World, an intellectual counterbalance to the Enlightenment and opposition to the totalitarian political movements of the 20th century. However, this Counter-Reformation Catholicism of history is giving way to what Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI call "the New Evangelization," which Weigel referred to "Evangelical Catholicism."
