November 16 - U.N. nuclear agency: Iran poised to expand nuke work
Article: Wars And Rumors Of Wars

The U.N. nuclear agency says Iran is poised to double output of higher-enriched uranium that can be turned easily into the core of a nuclear warhead.

The International Atomic Energy Agency's finding is contained in a report it circulated Friday among the agency's 35-nation board and obtained by The Associated Press. The report says Iran is technically ready within days to ramp up its production of 20 percent enriched uranium at its Fordo facility, doubling its present output and cutting in half the time it would take to acquire enough of the substance to make a nuclear weapon.

The report confirms information given to the AP on Thursday by diplomats accredited to the IAEA.

Iran denies any interest in nuclear arms.

November 16 - Five EU countries call for new military 'structure'
 Article: One World Government

Five leading EU countries, but not the UK, have said the Union needs a new military "structure" to manage overseas operations. The foreign and defence ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain issued the call in a joint communique after a meeting in Paris on Thursday (15 November).

The paper says: "We are convinced that the EU must set up, within a framework yet to-be-defined, true civilian-military structures to plan and conduct missions and operations." It adds: "We should show preparedness to hold available, train, deploy and sustain in theatre the necessary civilian and military means."

The communique also calls for more "pooling and sharing" of EU defence hardware in the context of crisis-related budget cuts. It identifies "space, ballistic-missile defence, drones, air-to-air refuelling, airlift capacities, medical support to operations [and] software defined radio" as pooling areas.

The reference to new "civilian-military structures" comes after the UK last year blocked the creation of a new operational headquarters (OHQ) in Brussels for EU military missions.

November 19 - Turkish PM Erdogan: Israel Is a 'Terrorist State'
Article: Israel And The Last days

When one wonders just how quickly and severely relations between Egypt and Israel can deteriorate, one only needs look at Turkey, the first Muslim country to ever recognize the State of Israel. In 2010, Turkey, led by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, turned on the Jewish State after decades of shared cooperation over the now-infamous Gaza flotilla incident. With the growing hardline Islamist bend of Erdogan, who also happens to share a collegial relationship with President Obama, Turkey has made its disdain no secret, condemning Israel's defensive strikes on Gaza and calling it a "terrorist state" Sunday.

During a conference of the Eurasian Islamic Council in Istanbul, the Turkish PM said, "those who associate Islam with terrorism close their eyes in the face of mass killing of Muslims, turn their heads from the massacre of children in Gaza. For this reason, I say that Israel is a terrorist state, and its acts are terrorist acts," he said.
