May 29 - Chinese scientists are 'aggressively' stepping up their development of doomsday nuclear weapons in a bid to get ahead of the US and Russia
Article: Wars And Rumors Of Wars

Comment from UTT:

Based on this article, we live in perilous times. Wars and rumors of wars are happening just as the Bible states would be occurring before the return of Jesus.

China is 'aggressively' developing next generation doomsday nuclear weapons to get ahead in its arms race with the US and Russia.

The country's scientists are conducting five times as many nuclear weapons experiments a year as US experts, according to a major Chinese weapons laboratory.

Experts warned that while China, the US and Russia hope their nuclear weapons programmes will act as a deterrent against potential threats, the escalating arms race is more likely to increase the chances of a doomsday conflict.

In a new report from the China Academy of Engineering Physics, scientists revealed that Chinese researchers carried out 200 laboratory experiments between September 2014 and December 2018. On average, its national laboratories performed these experiments - designed to simulate the complex physics of a nuclear blast - around 50 times per year. For comparison, US scientists carried out 50 such tests between 2012 and 2017, an average of 10 a year, according to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

May 30 - 'Mary, Our Refuge in Difficult Times,' Reminds Pope
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days

Comment from UTT:

The Bible does not provide support for the position the Roman Catholic Church has elevated "Mary", the mother of Jesus.

'The Virgin Mary is a refuge in difficult times.' Pope Francis gave this reminder at his weekly General Audience on Wednesday morning, May 30, 2018, in St. Peter's Square, where he continued his catecheses on Confirmation.

As he does each week, the Pope addressed "a special thought" at the end of the meeting, to young people, the elderly, the sick and new spouses. "Tomorrow," he said, "we are concluding the month of Mary."

"May the Mother of God," he wished, "be your refuge in times of joy, as well as in difficult times, and may she guide your families so that they cultivate homes of prayer, reciprocal understanding and giving."

June 4 - Pope Francis urges Spirit-centered cooperation between Catholics, Lutherans
 Article: Bridges To Rome

Comment from UTT:

The road towards ecumenical unity between Roman Catholics and Lutherans continues to advance according to this article.

In an address Monday to a delegation of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pope Francis encouraged ongoing ecumenism between Catholics and Lutherans.

Referencing efforts such as "various joint prayers" and "many ecumenical meetings," Francis observed an increased inclination toward Christian cooperation during the past year. He also emphasized its importance. "It is increasingly becoming a necessity and a desire," he said.

The pope expressed gratitude for the communal Catholic-Lutheran commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Francis spoke positively of the commemoration's outcomes, which he said created productive conversation around points of division and differences between the communities. He called for a thorough and honest continuation of these topics.
