So what if Mel Gibson produces and promotes a film that will focus on the resurrection? Does this mean that the Jesus of the Passion of the Christ, was the Jesus of the Bible? The real question is: Will Catholics accept the finished work of the Jesus of the Bible and throw away the sacraments as the key to the truth?

Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days

Mel Gibson and screenwriter Randall Wallace are working on a sequel to The Passion of the Christ, Wallace tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The untitled second film will reportedly focus on the resurrection of Jesus.

"I always wanted to tell this story,"
Wallace says, according to THR. "The Passion is the beginning and there's a lot more story to tell."

Gibson's rep did not comment on the report.
The Passion, which was directed by Gibson, 60, and starred Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ, focused on the last hours of Jesus' life before his crucifixion on the cross. The 2004 film was a box-office sensation, earning over $600 million and making it the highest-grossing religious film of all time. "The evangelical community considers The Passion the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger," Wallace said.

Wallace said he's begun working on a script for the sequel. He also said he began talking to Gibson about the new film while the two were working on Hacksaw Ridge together.
