Bryce Lodge Program

The Bryce Lodge Program for Myanmar was founded by Understand The Times in 2006.

At present there are five Bryce Lodges established in Myanmar supporting over 80 children, ages four to fifteen. Four are located in Yangon and one in a remote area of Myanmar.  These children have been sponsored by various individuals from all over the world.   All lodges have individual sponsors. Understand the Times provides  the rent for each home on a yearly basis and supports the staff required to oversee the program.

The concept to establish homes for poor and orphaned children originated when Roger Oakland made his first trip to the country of Myanmar in the year 2006. When he saw children face to face and the great need there was to establish Christian homes for their care and education, a thought entered his mind. Would it be possible for Understand The Times to financially assist Christian leaders in Myanmar and establish places where children could be rescued from the clutches of Buddhism and abstract poverty and given a Christian education?

Then another thought provided a name for the program:  Why not call this program Bryce Lodge in memory of his son Bryce who died in a car crash in Canada in August of 2001! Bryce loved children. This would be a great project that would endorse and promote in his memory.

February, 2011, will be the 5^th anniversary of the Bryce Lodge program. It has truly been a blessing to see the children growing up in an environment where they are provided food, education, clothing, shelter and Christian leadership that is dedicated to care for children and give them a Christian upbringing
